Speaking

PTE Speaking section is of 30-35 minutes.

This module checks your spoken English; which means your pronunciation, grammar, oral fluency, and your vocabulary.

PTE Speaking – READ ALOUD

A text will display on a computer screen containing near about 60 words. And you have to read this text aloud in the microphone with the correct pronunciation. This section is the first task for the PTE Academic examination, which also contributes to your reading section.

Total Tasks: – You will get 6 to 7 read-aloud.
Skills Assessed: – Your reading and speaking skills would be assessed.
Timing: – Time varies for every text depending upon the length of the text. You will get 30-40 seconds to get prepared before the recording starts.

Tips: – 1) Read the text once thoroughly before the recording starts.
2) Try to speak naturally and be fluent while speaking
3) Stress the words, carrying important information in the text.
4) Use intonation patterns (means take care of commas, full stops, and semicolons while speaking. Don’t ignore them)
5) Don’t stay quiet for more than 3 seconds as the microphone will get turned off automatically.

PTE Speaking – REPEAT SENTENCE

You will hear a recorded sentence. After listening to it, you have to speak out or repeat the sentence into the microphone. This also checks how well you understand the English language in your PTE Academic Exam.

Total Tasks: – You will get 10 to 12 repeat sentences.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening and speaking skills would be assessed.
Timing: – Each recorded sentence would be 3 to 9 seconds in length and for that, you will get 15 seconds to give an answer.

Tips: – 1) Try to make notes of the first initial letters of the words while the speaker speaks. This helps in the organization of sentences.
2) Speak clearly with the correct pronunciation.
3) Don’t mumble in between.

PTE Speaking – Describe Image

This is one of the most important sections in PTE Academic test. An image would be displayed on screen. You have to describe it in detail in microphone. There are different kinds of describe images like GRAPHS, LINE GRAPHS, BAR GRAPHS, IMAGE GRAPHS, PIE CAHARTS, PROCESSES, TABLES, DIAGRAMS AND FIGURES, MAPS, PHOTOGRAPHS.

Total Tasks: – You will get 6 to 7 describe images consisting of any of above.Skills Assessed: – Your speaking skills would be assessed.
Timing: – For each image, you will get 25 seconds to understand as well as to prepare the answer for the given image. And 40 seconds to give a response in the microphone.

Tips: – 1) Try to find out the kind of described image which you have to mention during
Speaking in the introduction.
2)  Make notes of the given image in a notepad.
3) Focus on good vocabulary, oral fluency and pronunciation.
4) Maintain voice modulation.
5) Give conclusion about image at the end
6) Keep speaking. Incase you make any error, just correct it and move on.

PTE Speaking – Retell Lecture

You will listen a recoded lecture. After listening (at times, lecture is accompanied by an image), you have to retell the lecture in your own words in microphone. This task is also contributes your listening section in the PTE academic test.

Total Tasks: – You will get 3 to 4 retell lectures.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening and speaking skills would be assessed.
Timing: – Each retell lecture would be up to 90 seconds in length. In 10 seconds, you have to prepare yourself and 40 seconds you will get to give your response in your own words.

Tips: – 1) Before the recording starts, try to scan the image. You can make some points
based on the image.
2) Prepare the notes as the recording begins. 3- or 4-points main points are enough to give a response.
3) when the lecture ends, you will get 10 seconds to organize your main points.
4) Don’t repeat the same statement again and again.
5) Take care of pronunciation and oral fluency. And use good vocabulary.

PTE Speaking – Answer Short Questions

You will hear a recorded question. After listening to it, you have to answer this question with a single word or few words.

Total Tasks: – You will get 10 to 12 answer short questions.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening and speaking skills would be assessed.
Timing: – Each Answer short question would be 3 to 9 seconds in length. And you will get 10 seconds to give an answer.

Tips: – 1) As you will hear the recording once, so try to concentrate on the task before the
recording begins.
2) You will get 10 seconds to give an answer. You can correct your answer if you make any mistake in between 10 seconds.
