PTE Listening is of 45 to 57 minutes.

This module assesses your ability to understand the various accents of spoken English.

THIS SECTION FURTHER CONSISTS OF FOLLOWING PARTS

1.PTE Listening – Summarize Spoken Text

You will listen a recorded audio of 60 – 90 seconds in length. After listening to a recording, you have to write a summary of 50 to 70 words. It is recommended you should write 60-65 words which help to get the maximum content score in the PTE academic test.

Total Tasks: – You will get 2 to 3 Summarize Spoken Text.
Skills Assessed: – You’re listening and writing skills would be assessed.

Tips: – 1) During listening to an audio, take notes of important keywords on an erasable note board booklet. These notes will help you to get the important main points of the spoken text.
2) With these important main points, you can summarize the spoken Text by adding more supporting details.
3) Try to mention relevant information in the text.
4) You will get 10 minutes for each task. Try to complete the task before 10 minutes. As the remaining time, you can utilize for the rechecking of your response.
5)  Don’t spend much time on one task.

2. PTE Listening – Multiple Choice – Choose Multiple Answers

You will listen to the recorded audio of 40 – 90 seconds in length with a question and for this question you will be given multiple options /answers. After listening to the recording, you have to select more than one response which is right ones. It is very important to select the correct response while you listen to the recording in the PTE Academic test.

Total Tasks: – You will get 2 to 3 Multiple Choice-Choose Multiple Answers.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening skills would be assessed.

Tips: – 1) Audio will begin after 7 seconds. Before the audio begins, read the question and options. This will give you the main idea about the topic.
2) Proper concentrate on the recorded audio when it starts. And take notes of important keywords on an erasable note board booklet. This will help you to remember the information.
3) When an audio finishes, choose more than one correct response. Make sure these responses contain relevant information as in audio.
4) If you want to change your answer, you can change it deselecting the previous one.
5) Don’t spend much time on one task.

3. PTE Listening – Fill in The Blanks

You will listen to an audio of 30 to 60 seconds in length. And transcription of an audio will appear on the screen with various blanks. During listening to an audio, you have to type the missing words in given blanks. This section has negative marking; you need to write the words as you listen to the recording in your PTE academic test.

Total Tasks: – You will get 2 to 3 tasks of Fill in The Blanks.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening and writing skills would be assessed.

Tips: – 1) An audio will begin after 7 seconds. So, before the audio begins, read all the transcription to get the main information about the topic.
2)  When the audio the, you will hear each missing word for each blank. So, type that particular missing word in that blank quickly.
3) At the time of typing of missing word, don’t waste your time in checking of spellings. You have to follow the audio and keep typing each missing word until the audio ends.
4) At the end, when audio stops you are advised to check the spellings of missing words. Also, check that the missing words you have written make sense.
5) Don’t spend much time on one task.

4. PTE Listening – Highlight Correct Summary

You will listen to an audio of 30 to 90 seconds in length. And 3 to 4 paragraphs will appear on the screen. After listening deselecting, you have to select the correct paragraph that best summarize the recorded audio.

Total Tasks: – You will get 2 to 3 Highlight correct Summary in your PTE academic exam.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening and reading skills would be assessed.

Tips: – 1) Recorded audio will start in 10 seconds. You are advised to utilize the 10 seconds to skim through the given paragraphs to get the information of each.
2) While audio starts, take notes of main points on Erasable Note-board Booklet to get the important information. And these notes will help you to choose the correct response.
3) Make sure that the correct paragraph should contain all aspects of the information.
4) Don’t spend much time on one task.

5. PTE Listening – Multiple Choice Choose Single Answer

You will listen to the recorded audio of 30 – 60 seconds in length with a question and for this question you will be given multiple options /answers. After listening to the recording, you have to select one correct option.

Total Tasks: – You will get 2 to 3 Multiple Choice-Choose Single Answer in your PTE academic test.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening skills would be assessed.

Tips: – 1) Before the audio starts, read the question and options. This would give you an idea about the topic.

6. PTE Listening – Select Missing Word

You will hear a recorded lecture of 20 – 70 seconds with options display on the screen. And the lecture will end with a beep sound which will replace the last word or group of words. You have to get an idea from the lecture and select the missing words from the given options.

Total Tasks: – You will get 2 to 3 Select Missing Word in your PTE academic exam.

Skills Assessed: – Your listening skills would be assessed.

Tips: – 1) Recording will start after 7 seconds. During this time scan the given options on screen to get the main idea of the topic that you might hear from the lecture.
2) Don’t make notes as you need full focus on the lecture to understand the information about the lecture.
3) When the recording comes to an end, you should be ready to suggest the word or words, replaced by a beep sound.

7. PTE Listening – Highlight Incorrect Words

You will hear a recorded audio of 15 – 50 seconds with a transcription, appears on the screen. While listening to an audio, you have to identify the words in the transcription being replaced by different words.

Total Tasks: – You will get 2 to 3 Highlight Incorrect Words in your PTE academic exam.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening and reading skills would be assessed.

Tips: -1) Recoding will begin after 10 seconds. Before the recording starts, you are advised to read the transcript to get an idea about the topic.
2) when the audio begins, move your cursor along the lines of the transcription.
3) As you hear any incorrect or different word, click on that.
4) Don’t stop on any place to think about something. Just keep on moving along with the recording.

8. PTE Listening – Write from Dictation

You will hear a recording of a sentence of 3 -5 seconds. After listening, you have to type that. This is the most important section in your PTE academic. Don’t leave this section on your test day. It has been observed that if you miss this section it is hard to get your desired score.

Total Tasks: – You will get 3 to 4 Write from Dictation.
Skills Assessed: – Your listening and writing skills would be assessed.

Tips: – 1) Audio will start after 7 seconds. You should fully concentrate on it so that you don’t miss any word.
2) When the audio begins, write notes of initial letters of each word on an erasable note board booklet.
3) When the audio stops, organize a sentence from these initial letters.
4) Check spellings of each word.
